Registered Students

On Saturday, January 17 registered students will have full access to the class website through Desire2Learn (also known as D2L).  If you have never used D2L, instructions to log in are available on its' homepage.  Click on the link below to log into D2L.  Make sure to bookmark it as a "Favorite."  This is always the first point of entry to the class website.

Website: http://d2l.losrios.edu

All registered students must post their first original message in Week 1 Student Introductions no later than 11:59pm Friday, January 23.  Failure to do so may result in being dropped from the class.  Complete instructions for this assignment will be available on the first day the class website is available.

Wait Listed Students

I will be distributing permission numbers via email beginning Saturday, January 17, based on available spots on the roster.  Students must have an activated iMail account at ARC to receive their permission number.  Failure to do so may result in forfeiting your position on the wait list.  Instructions to activate your iMail account are available by clicking here.

Access to the class website (http://d2l.losrios.edu) will be available within 48 hours after official registration with eServices.

All students on the wait list should complete the Online Orientation by Saturday, January 24 to determine if this class is the right fit for you.

  •  If you haven't received a permission number by Saturday, January 24, then unfortunately I wasn't able to add you.

Not registered or on the wait list?

All students interested in adding this class should complete the Online Orientation as soon as possible.  If after completion of the Orientation a student is still interested in adding this class, send an email with your full name, section number, and student ID# to hokersl@arc.losrios.edu, requesting a permission number.  Your best bet to receive a permission number is to get onto my wait list; rarely do I extend permission numbers beyond my wait list.  If you haven't received a permission number by Saturday, January 24, then unfortunately I wasn't able to add you.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  1. How many hours a week should I expect to spend working on this 16 week online class?

Students should expect to spend a minimum of 10 hours per week, but most likely will spend up to 15 hours to keep up with weekly activities and prepare for quizzes and exams.

  1. Am I required to login at specific times during the week?

Students are not required to login at any specific time during the term EXCEPT for quizzes and exams.

  1. Is this a self-paced class?

Yes and no.  The class is divided into 5 different learning modules.  I will release one module at a time, which allows students to work ahead within the module, but not beyond the module.  There may be occasions when modules overlap during a week, which would allow a student to work ahead to the next module.  However this is the exception to the rule.  Students are required to keep up with weekly activities.
