     This course covers U.S. History from the founding of Jamestown in 1607 through the Civil War.  The course begins with a brief overview of the Black Americans African heritage.  It continues with the role played by African American women, as well as men, their relationships to other groups, and their specific contributions in the growth and development of the nation.
