In the play I read online the setting is first described as in the Hale's kitchen. Unlike in the story were the story begins in the Wright's kitchen. The setting of the story describes the Wright's kitchen. It explains how the kitchen is gloomy and a mess. In the play it described Mrs. Hale's kitchen and how she noticed an imperfection right before she left her house. The difference could account for the differences between the two womens lives. Mrs. Wright's kitchen is gloomy and many things are left unfinished and the writer portrayed her as an unhappy person. In Mrs. Hale's kitchen everything is always finished and there is nothing noticable wrong about anything, much like her own life.
