I personally prefer the short story over the drama. I really don’t like to read plays. I like to learn about the characters as I read and that’s what the short story gives you. I love the way the short story lays the foundation on the characters and the setting and allows you to explore the possibilities. For example: in “A Trial of Her Peers,” we were given information on the key characters and were told how their lives were interrupted, before they arrived at the Wrights home that morning. We were given information on the setting, at the start of reading the short story, “when Martha Hale opened the storm-door and got a cut of the north wind, she ran back for her big woolen scarf.” This led us to believe that it was very cold. This information helped me to understand the setting.
