I feel that the short story’s title “A Jury of Her Peers” does create a shift in emphasis from the play’s title Trifles. With a title like “A Jury of Her Peers” I already have a biased opinion that the story is going to be about someone who is being judged for something they might have done. So when I read the story it caused me to pay attention to the details of what happened and made me try to determine if she was guilty or not guilty. The thing of it is that you don’t really know for sure if she even did it but because of the title you feel yourself judging her. With a title like Trifles you don’t find yourself judging anyone right away, you are able to let the plot develop before you find yourself judging anyone.
