The author of the play definitly puts a different mood on the story with the opening scene being in a gloomy kitchen. The begininning didn't take place in a neat and tidy kitchen as in the story. I like how you explained that the story emphasized Mrs. Hale's kitchen, which related to her character. And then Mrs. Wright's gloomy kitchen set the tone for the play. Each one started out differently in order to give out the right information desired for their type of drama writing.
