I agree with your opinion. YOu are absolutely wright that in the short story the reader has to rely on the author telling the reader all details. VEry valuable observation!

>When reading the short story you do not get the same emotion out of the short story than when you watch/listen to the play. During the begining I feel that watching the play and hearing all the noises around you can put yourself in their shoes a little more easily. When reading the short story it is hard for me to see all the commotion that is going on arounf her. In the play you are able to visualize that commotion. In the short story you have to rely on the author telling you all details, when watching or listening to a production you can see it with you own eyes even before there is attention brought upon it. A live audience responds better than a audience to a book. The actors can respond better to their audience than a book can to its reader.
