Yes, the poem and the play have a connection. The Young family wanted to get out of the poverty they had dreams. Walter wanted to become a business man and his sister dreams was to become a doctor. Lena want a house so the grandson would have a better place to play. Ruth want a nicer home, she was tired of living in the small apartment. I gave Walter a lot of credit for not selling the house. He made his family very happy. the Young family went ahead and move on to their new home no matter what prejudice and racism they have to confront in the future. Walter and Beneatha has to continue dreaming and work hard to accomplish their dreams.
