I disagree with you that Mr. Pontellier is a controlling and possessive husband to Edna. Mr. Pontellier was an active businessman whose job requires him to travel frequently. I do however, agree with you that Adele is devoted to her husband and her children. Edna, on the other hand, pursues her sexual passion and her independance.
