Hi Maggie

Now I am not just saying this because of your post to me, but your write up here is well done. It reveals your remembrance of the very words written in the novel. You summarize well the attributes of all four characters. I did not see Robert as much of a gentlemen as you might of, since he was indifferent toward their feelings when another new woman came along, but he was the charmer wasn't he? Great write up really.

> Edna and Adele are different women in many aspects and entirely different when it comes to their femininity. Edna is an attractive woman but more handsome than beautiful and this fact alone has made her feminine side a little rough around the edges. She is not an overly motherly woman to her kids, but she loves them. She is respectful, obedient and loving towards her husband, but finally stands up for herself. This makes her less lady-like and she is happy to be that way. Adele is a woman of grace and beauty. She serves her husband and children as if they were gods. She is a feminine woman that enjoys to dress up and be sociable. Adele is a flower in the middle of the desert. She is sweet, polite and most importantly lady-like.
> Leonce and Robert are both men who love woman, but other than that have no similarities. Leonce is a man that knows what he likes. He likes his wife to be a certain way and act in a certain manner. He is more like an owner than a husband. He enjoys the thrill of money and power. He is man who enjoys being out late and coming home to his picture perfect family. Leonce is a masculine man that needs nothing that he can’t get for himself. He is the family provider that is held on a pedestal by everyone that meets him. Robert is more of a gentleman than a masculine man. He has a heart and understands that other’s have feelings as well. He is considerate of others and cherishes their friendships. Though he is portrayed to be a lean man he could easily defend anyone. His heart is his light in life and he follows it full force. Robert is a man that any woman would love to call her husband with all his great qualities.
