YOu are absolutely right that Edna and Adele are different. Adele is the perfect "mother-woman" in The Awakening, being
both married and pregnant.However,Edna does not follow Adele’s footsteps.Edna thinks that Adele is unable to perceive herself as an individual human being. During the summer, Edna became more open because of her close friendship with Adele. They were close to each other. As Edna started to experience her awakening, the contrast and tensions between Adele and Edna started to grow.

I agree with you that Mr.Pontellier and Robert have some similarities and differencies at the same time.

I respect Robert because he tried to stop his relationship with Edna by avoiding her.
