I agree with you on the depiction of Adele and the vastly more stereotypically feminine role in that society. As a woman's role as the mother, her entire life revolved around motherhood and her husband. I agree with you also on Edna's husband, that he probably did grant her more freedom than most men in that era. The problem is that there really should not have to have freedom granted. Freedom is one of those inalienable rights for everyone.
