>My first impression of this poem is that the author is deeply in love with the woman, his mistress. The poem describes how his love will past the test of time and how his love will endure even when they turn into dust.

Now that I have a basic understanding of some of the elements of poetry I can appreciate how extensively they were used in this poem. This author makes extensive use of metaphor and image. One of my favorites is "then worms shall try that long preserved virginity." I stand by my first impression that their love will stand the test of time, and this is echoed in the authors last line "thus, though we can not make our sun stand still, yet we will make him run"
