I really liked your idea that they might both be dead or one of them being dead. I had never thought of that angle before. I was also empowered and engergized by his love for her. I know thats the love everyone wishes they had. The metaphor of vegetable love was confusing to me and still somewhat is. It left me with some questions as it did with you.
