Then the rhyme of the last two sentences the “waltzed me off to bed “ is a little confusing. But in the ending says “Still hanging to your shirt” the boy meaning no matter what you do to me I will be here.

I like how you analyzed the poem. I agree with you in that the mother really couldn't do anything about it, because maybe if the son was getting beaten than maybe his mother was being beaten too.
