I am unclear to what definitions of poetry you are describing. I agree with you that the fisherman were no longer being proud of themselves for their accomplishments of catching fish.

Also they are not bragging about their own victory anymore but when taking a deep look at the fish and all it has done, they are forced almost without an option to focus on the fish's accomplishments in light of what it has done.
