Hello colleagues,

There is very likely to be an extreme shortage of available parking on Wednesday due to it being the first week of the semester coupled with the events celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington and the I Have a Dream speech. As a result, I strongly recommend that you talk with your students about this on the first day of class and give them the alternative of parking at the Galleria Mall and riding the bus to campus.

Here is a link to the bus schedule that you can share with your students: http://www.placer.ca.gov/departments/works/transit/pct/lincoln. They will need to ride the "Lincoln/Rocklin/Sierra College" bus. If you click on "Galleria" and "Sierra College" in the schedule it will pull up a map that shows you where to park and catch the bus. Please also note:

1. The fare is $1.25 each way; exact change and cash only

2. The bus takes 18 minutes from Galleria to Sierra College and leaves every hour on the half-hour. To return to the Galleria, the bus takes 30 minutes and leaves Sierra College every hour on the hour.

Students should expect to have great difficulty parking on Wednesday if they choose to park on campus (which means many of them will resort to parking in staff spaces as they normally do the first week of school). Advising them of this could save us all a lot of headache!

2) Look at the PowerPoint for Chapter 1 and try to do the homework one for chapter 1, although it will not be collected but it is essential as we start chapter 2 on the first day.
