California Clearinghouse on Library Instruction
 
Bylaws

 

CCLI-North Bylaws were recommended and approved by the Steering Committee on
Oct. 30, 1992;
amended June 10, 1998.

 

Article I.     Name
       
      The official name of this organization shall be The California Clearinghouse on Library Instruction, North (CCLI--North).
       
Article II.     Purpose
       
  Section 1   To improve the quality of library instruction in California by sharing expertise, resources and ideas.
  Section 2   To identify the variety of library instruction programs in progress or in preparation in California.
  Section 3   To organize workshops in Northern California.
  Section 4   To provide a depository for materials and information on instruction in library use in California.
  Section 5   To communicate to the membership electronically and by means of a newsletter.
       
Article III.     Membership
       
  Section 1.   Membership in this organization is free and shall be open to any person or institution interested in the purposes of this organization.
     
  Section 2   Membership in the Steering Committee is open to any organization member who attends Steering Committee meetings.
     
       
Article IV.     Officers
       
  Section 1.   This organization shall be governed by a Steering Committee.
  Section 2.   Steering Committee officers shall be a Chair, a Chair-Elect, a Secretary, and a Treasurer.
  Section 3.   Duties of the Officers:
    a. The Chair shall prepare the agenda for and conduct Steering Committee meetings and any other activities to meet the needs and interests of the members, and act as liaison between the organization and other organizations. The Chair shall appoint a Curator, a Newsletter Editor, and other positions, as needed.
    b. The Chair-Elect shall serve as a member or chair of each workshop or program committee, and shall serve in the place of the Chair, as required or requested by the Chair, and shall perform other duties as requested by the Chair.
    c. The Secretary shall prepare and keep minutes of Steering Committee meetings, as required, and send copies of the minutes to Steering Committee members, and shall perform other duties as requested by the Chair.
    d. The Treasurer shall keep accounts of all funds received or expended by the organization, and shall report on all income and expenditures at each Steering Committee meeting, and shall perform other duties as requested by the Chair.
       
Article V.     Elections
       
      Officers shall be elected by a simple majority of Steering Committee members voting at the first meeting following the Spring workshop.
       
Article VI.     Terms of Office
       
      Officers shall serve for one year.
       
Article VII.     Meetings
       
  Section 1.   The Steering Committee shall meet approximately every two months during the academic year.
  Section 2.   Special meetings may be called by the Steering Committee or the Chair at any time.
  Section 3.   All meetings are open.
       
Article VIII.     Committees
       
      Ad hoc committees shall be appointed by the Chair, as necessary, to plan and implement workshops and programs. The Chair shall appoint Chairs of these committees.
       
Article IX.     Depository
       
  Section 1.   The organization shall maintain a depository of instructional materials.
  Section 2.   The Chair shall appoint a Curator of the depository files who shall be responsible for maintenance and circulation of these files, as well as correspondence with contributors to and users of the Depository.
     
     
     
Article X.     Expenditures
       
      The Steering Committee or Chair shall approve all expenditures.
       
Article XI.     Newsletter
       
  Section 1.   The organization shall produce at least one newsletter issue per year.
  Section 2.   Newsletter content shall fulfill the purpose stated in Article II, Sections 1 and 2 of these bylaws.
  Section 3.   Members are entitled to a free copy of each newsletter published during the current calendar year of their membership.
     
       
Article XII.     Amendments to Bylaws
       
      These bylaws may be amended by the affirmative vote of a simple majority of the Steering Committee members voting.
