- Face-to-Face: I will be on campus for the first day of classes. If you need to add, you MUST be present to get a permission number, AND register, AND pay at that time.
- Online Classes: Students will need to wait a couple of days, to allow me the time to drop students and make room. Then, I will add students, if any room, from the waitlist, then First-Come-First-Serve.
- Will you have Office hours?
- I will have online office hours for this course, and I will have in-person for my other classes. Please see the syllabus for times and locations.

- Yes. the test, assignments and references will come from the book.
- When are assignments due?
- Please refer to the syllabus and/or Canvas for specific days/dates/times.
- Will you accept late homework?
- I do understand that life has a way of interferring with school. The general answer is NO. IF I do accept late work, it will be with a 20% penalty.
- Will you accept work early?
- The class is setup to do work from week to week. You can complete the work for that week early, but not other weeks.
- Do I really have to do the discussion(s)?
- The obvious answer is YES! If you want to throw away easy points, that is your decision!!!! Just remember, that if you are close to the next letter grade, and miss by 10 points, you only have yourself to blame!!! HINT HINT!!!
- What if I need help on an assignment?
- Well here you have several options.
- Me: but remember email, and phone calls, can take some time to be returned, so PLAN AHEAD.
- American River College:
- Sacramento City College
- I will be putting up discussion areas, where you can ask questions of me and the class.
- You can email me, but remember that it takes time to get back to you, and do NOT wait to the last minute.
- What is the link to?....
- How long will it take for you (meaning the instructor) to answer an email?
- I will try to answer emails ASAP. With my changing schedule, it will vary, so give me 24 to 48 hours. During the week, I hope that day, or the next day. Weekends are at my discretion!!
- When will grades be updated?
- I will update the grades week-to-week. As you work on week 2, I'll be updating week 1. I hope not to be later than Wednesday of the next week.
- The assignment asks for a print. What should I do?
- You can print to a PDF and upload the PDF.
- Take screenshots and paste them in a Word document and put that in the drop box with your assignment.
- Create different versions of the Excel File! FileA.xlsx FileB.xlsx etc.
- The assignment has multipal parts. What should I do?
- You can create different worksheets/Documents with the different parts, and save them as different file names.
- This is an online class, so start to think for yourself. This is what you will have to do out in the real world. OK?
- Which email address will you (The instructor) send messages to?
- The Canvas system is attached to the iMail system. The online registration system uses whatever email you put in the system. I will be using the Canvas email function to email the class, so you NEED to check the AppMail system often.
- Emailing
- When you are emailing me, make sure that you include in your subject line, the class/your name/subject.
- example: CISA315/Jon Doe/About Assignment due.
- Can I do this class using a Mac?
- Student's that have used MAC for this course in the past. Some of the keystrokes are different on the MAC vs the PC, so that might cause issues!!!! The Office version for the MAC is not really the same as the one for Windows. Remember that our lab (LA152) has Office for Windows there, and you can use it.
- I will be on vacation/travel for work/Out of town/sick....
- For this question, you know if you are going to be out of town, or work or...PLAN AHEAD! Make sure that you have internet access, where ever you are going to be. This is the advantage, and disadvantage, of online classes.
- I am having issues with my home computer and using Office.
- I can not offer tech support. You will have to talk with the lab techs, or your computer maker. Everyone here is going to be using different computers, with different setups, and Operating Systems, etc!! This class does use Office 2016. I have had students that use other versions office 2016, 365, and 2013, they have not reported issues. I have had some people that use the MAC and Office 2011 or 2016. The only issue that I have been told is the differences in Keys on the keyboard from the MAC to the PC. So, a bigger learning curve for my MAC people!!!!!!! As for me, I have the following system setup...
- Dell Optiplex 760, with Windows 10, Office 2016. I have used the windows update, for both Windows OS and Office, and updated it until it said I was up-to-date! I have been using Mozilla Firefox as my browser.
