This course is an introduction to computer based design using Adobe Illustrator CS6(hardcopy or cloud). The course is based on weekly class modules that introduce design skills as well as the technical skills associated with Illustrator software. Exercises, tutorials and five major projects will be completed during the semester.

The class paralells the traditional class in content but is formatted to better take advantage of the online environemnt. Your interface with the class is Blackboard which you will have access to when you enroll in the class. Blackboard is your online "portal" for accessing the schedule, galleries of student work, quizzes and communication tools. We will use both e-mail, announcements and discussion boards to stay connected and informed about class activities.

Course Software and Hardware Requirements
You must have access to a computer and scanner (to send sketches of project ideas) as well as internet connections and e-mail account.

You will also need to own or have access to Illustrator or CS6 or CS5 (may not work as well with the lessons but fine with projects). CS6 is the latest version of Illustrator and once enrolled can be purchased online at the educational discount. The best buys for the Adobe Creative Suite are no longer available as Adobe transitions to "The Cloud". If you don't have access to a hardcopy version of CS6 the most economical source may be the Adobe Cloud subscription which cost $29.99 per month (one year subscription). Readings are based on CS6 versions of all texts.
