Virtual Office Careers and Technologies

 


DESCRIPTION:  

This course explores careers in the virtual office and identifies techniques and technologies needed by virtual office workers.  Specific topics include types of virtual offices, technologies and skills needed in a virtual office, ways to establish and manage a virtual office career, effective communications, and job opportunities.

ORIENTATION:  

The orientations are scheduled online in D2L during the first week of the semester. If you are unable to complete the orientation by the deadline at midnight, please call the professor at (916) 484-8258. Email Professor Roietta Fulgham at fulghar@arc.losrios.edu if you need a permission number to add the course.

Then log into D2L during the first week of the semester.Click the appropriate course link and follow the instructions on the News screen telling you how to proceed with the orientation. Select the Orientation information and complete each task listed on the menu. Allow at least two hours for the orientation from start to finish (it will probably take less time). If you have any questions, please send an email or call (916) 484-8258. Allow 24 hours for an answer.

INFORMATION: 

Congratulations! You are about to prepare for a career opportunity in a virtual environment.  Because of the growth of e-commerce and the emerging field of virtual services, this course is provided to expand your career opportunities in a virtual office.

All assignments and exams will be completed online. You will learn terms and technologies used in virtual environments, skills needed for virtual assisting, and ways to establish and manage an effective virtual office career.

Individuals who take this course may choose to work outside of their corporate/business office or may be considering an entrepreneurial career. This course is important to help you recognize and seek opportunities using your office skills. This is an elective course for the Office Careers Certificate in the Business Technology Department and required for the Virtual Office Professional Certificate.
