Yes, there is a clear thesis and the question is answered. The only thing is that the word count is just a little short, but everything else is there.

No, the thesis provides a point to make and it is made throughout the essay. The thesis is good and to the point.

There are quotes used throughout the essay to provide sufficent evidence to support the claims made.
5) Does the writer explicitly show how this evidence supports his/her view? Are connections made for the reader?
Each quote has an explanation which helps the reader understand the point that is trying to be made. Connections are made for the reader that help him or her understand the quote more clearly.
6) Does each paragraph connect with the thesis?
each pragraph does connect back to the point that the writer was trying to make based on his thesis.
7) Is there additional evidence which the writer has missed?
Not that i can tell, there is great evidence throughout the essay.
8) Does the conclusion sum up the writer's point?
Yes, very well in fact. the conclusion sums up and ends the essay very well.
9) Give the writer at least one suggestion for improving this paper.
Just work on raising the word count to the required amount.
