E-mailing to the instructor

1) Make sure you put the name of the course in the subject line of your e-mail such as CISP401 or Java programming.

2) Put your full name somewhere in the subject line or at the top of the message body if the E-mail address does not correspond to the student's name.

Ideally your subject line should look like this: SUBJ: CISS 300 | Skywalker | questions about assignment

3) If you are sending me multiple files as attachments to your E-mail, please compress your files using some kind of zip utility program such as 7-Zip, etc.

4) Do not use text message shorthand or elite speak. This is a college; use standard English.

5) Any email message not adhereing to these rules may be deleted and without being read.

Another thing: your instructor is NOT a double-click resource available 24/7. I shall not be answering emails on weekends. If you send a lengthy email not containing a single question mark, or any punctuation at all, I may never answer your email. If your email question requires research on my part, it may take 2-4 days to get to it. It would not be unusual for the email you sent on a Friday evening to not be answered until the next Wednesday.

V-mailing the instructor

1) Make sure you say the name of the course and state your full name at the start of the voice mail.

2) If you wish me to call you, please state the return number clearly twice, preferably at the beginning of the voice mail.

3) Make sure the number I am to return your call to actually is your number and has 7 digits.

 4) If your call has too much interference to understand you, i.e. on a cell phone in a car in traffic with radio on, I shall simply delete any messages that are unintelligible due to interference.

Feel free to leave voice mail messages. Voice mail will only be answered Monday through Thursday, and usually I shall only answer voice mail during office hours, and never before 9am or after 7pm. Remember , email is the preferred method of communication for online classes.

Thank you.
