CISC 308 Schedule

These are the TENTATIVE dates, topics and assignments for this course. The Instructor reserves the right to adjust or change the schedule or assignments. Labs are due at the first class meeting of the following week. Late labs lose 20% automatically. Final Project is due in class at the last class meeting.

All lessons must be completed by the end of the semester in order to receive a final grade.  Responsibility is placed on the individual student to complete all assignments in a timely matter in order to complete the course. Be proactive in contacting your instructor if any difficulties or questions arise. Keep copies of all files until the final week to verify the accuracy of the Blackboard gradesheet.

  2. Ideal Computer- research and describes the input and output devices you would attach to your computer. Are these included or purchased separately? Submit.
  3. Post your paragraph to the Week 3 Discussion Board-Techno Question.
  4. Research the History of the Internet—create your own (do not copy from a web page—this will earn a grade of F) Timeline of 20 important dates in the development of the Internet. List the date and in one or two sentences the importance of the event, who, where, and what. Include your references. See the list of links in Course Documents--Week 3. If you use other links, please cite them.
  5. Windows Tutorial 11-15 p W28-W40—Post your progress, questions and problems to the Discussion Board Week 3 Tutorial Progress.

  1. Ideal Computer -- Research and describe the software you would load on your computer. Create a table with program names, cost, and how you would use it. Submit.
  2. Internet Scavenger Hunt – See document in Blackboard Due September 26th.
  3. Internet Tutorial 1-7 p T1-16—Post your progress, questions and problems to the Discussion Board Week 4 Tutorial Progress.

  1. Ideal Computer Project using Word or PowerPoint. Compile all the information you have developed to describe the computer system, hardware and software, including utility programs, virus and malware protection programs. Include at least one graphic and your list of references. Submit the completed project by October 1st.
  2. Oral Presentation of Ideal Computer Project.
  3. Post your reflective response on the learning you mastered during this course on the Final Discussion Board.
