| SETRC,
a partnership formed between education and industry, addresses the urgent
need to develop sufficient numbers of qualified high-tech employees for
engineering and technology career paths. SETRC
collaborates
with the K-12 school system, two- and four-year institutions, local industry
and professional groups. |
| Over 50 educational institutions
participate in SETRC,
utilizing positive working relationships with area business leaders to
plan and create a pipeline which will guide students into the many well-paying
positions that currently go unfilled, or are filled through foreign worker
visas. SETRC provides
much-needed leadership; supports curriculum development, workshops and
in-service training for faculty and counselors; and guides efforts toward
standards development. |
| SETRC works
with regional industry to assess workforce needs, identify and develop
training opportunities, and coordinate worksite experiences for students
and faculty, including field trips, mentoring and job shadowing programs. |
