Tissue grafting in tree and vine crops

Decorative Image Grafting

Long Description: Grafting has been used for thousands of years to propagate elite varieties of tree and vine crops. These crops would not breed true if propagated via pollination and seed production. Recently, breeders have developed varieties that have good resistance to root diseases. A stem from the tree with superior fruits is cut and grafted onto the rootstock that has good resistance to disease. All grapevines, fruit trees and nut trees are now grown in this way.
