After reading the text and lecture for this week, and reviewing the materials above, read the following scenario. Then go to the discussion link for this week and post your response. Be sure to cite the theory and research that you have learned. Your post must be grounded in SWAGS not WAGS. For full credit tell us where you got your info.
Imagine for a moment that you are an administrator in a long-term care facility and a resident's family member has just contacted you because their mother, who resides in your facility (because of some cognitive impairment), is "being allowed" by staff to have a sexual relationship with another facility resident. Both parties seem to be willing participants.
1. First, what is your emotional response? WAGS are ok here.
What do you think is the source of your emotional response -- that is, which life
events do you think shaped your response?
2. Should you and/or the family do something about it? Cite
some SWAGS here. What have you learned?
If so, what will that be?
If not, how can you be certain that the resident's best
interest are being guarded?
3. How would you feel if it were your mother? Cite both WAGS
and SWAGS here.
4. After doing the readings and research are your ideas or feelings on this topic
different? How?
