Be sure to address the following items and respond to at least 2 of your colleagues postings. Also, tell us how you did on the aging quiz at the top of week two lecture.

  1. Were you surprised by any of the results of your age graph? Did you expect consistency between the different types of aging? Why, why not? Are you willing to tell us what the results were?
  2. Can you think of any social or psychological measures of age that are not included here? Check out this article Where you live linked to life expectancy

  3. What about in different societies and cultures? Do you know the average life expectancy in Afghanistan?
(come on- go find out).  Why do you think it's different from ours? Here is a hint-- think average age not
maximum. Where in our culture is the average age low?

  4. Here you can post a WAG- Refer to the orientation page if you forgot what a wag is)- what might this exercise teach us about aging?

  5. Here is an optional fun test.

The test is based on human longevity research conducted by Thomas Perls MD, MPH and his review of epidemiological studies relating to good health at older age. Dr. Perls, an Associate Professor of Medicine at Boston University Medical Center and the lead author of Living to 100: Lessons in Living to Your Maximum Potential at Any Age,
