Social Policy Posting
This week each of us will outline our topic for our FINAL Social Policy Posting (your final project) and take a look at what each other's plans are. During finals week we will post this research. Remember, this project is worth 35 points. The paper must address an issue related to aging.
NOTE: If you would like your FINAL Social Topic Posting to be graded early by the instructor you can submit it at least two weeks before the due date via email attachment. The project will be returned to you with instructor comments. This gives you the opportunity to make needed corrections, return it before the due date and increase your grade. To submit for early grading email your paper with gero300 or Soc 334 in the subject line of your email and note that it is a preview.
It is now time to choose a topic and find two other outside resources to use for additional information. Links to help in finding resources are located on the assignment menu at the Orientation week in case you missed them. You were also directed to your text (check out the back of the text for 'How to Research in Gerontology') and you can also check the Electronic hand outs for this week.
If you notice your Annual Editions text has a Topic Guide in the front that directs you to all the articles in the text that have to do with a certain topic. And when you look at the end of most of those articles they have a list of the resources they used to write the article. That is a good source for outside references. Do you know how to find one of those articles? You might take the title, author and date written or publication to the librarian at school. That person can help. Be careful using web-sites. BLOGS are not creditable academic resources and NEVER USE WIKIPEDIA as a resource. When in doubt, ask for HELP :)

ASSIGNMENT
After choosing and reading one article from the Annual Editions text find an outside source on the same topic. Remember what you learned about evaluating web sites and find appropriate sites to use.
Please put the title of the topic in the SUBJECT LINE of your post (when you start a new thread a SUBJECT box comes up. Put the title of your post there). That way we can all see what has been selected.
As noted in the syllabus:
NOTE: Topics that are off limits are elder drivers, and elder abuse. Sorry, too many BLOGS out there on these topics with inaccurate or incomplete information.Topics must address a social issue related to older adults
