A.R.C. Vocal Jazz Ensembles . . .
We currently offer three vocal jazz ensembles at A.R.C. Check the current course schedule for day, time, and location:
Vocal Jazz I –
Our advanced ensemble, VJ I continues to win critical acclaim both locally and nationally. This ensemble has won numerous DownBeat Awards for Student Achievement in Ensemble and Solo Singing. The ensemble records annually and studio singing is a significant part of your experience in this course. As a member of this ensemble you will perform on campus and at various events throughout the region. The ensemble also travels to distant performances. Past performances include appearances at the International Association of Jazz Educators at conferences in Toronto, Long Beach, and New York. The time commitment for this ensemble is extensive. The audition process occurs during the first week of the Fall Semester and is open to all students. For further information contact Dr. Art Lapierre.
Vocal Jazz II –
Our beginning ensemble, VJ II will provide you with a place to start! A larger ensemble than VJ I the emphasis is on performing and developing your jazz singing skills set. This is a fun ‘hang’ with other singers who have an interest in jazz and want to know more.
Performances are generally limited to on campus and local gigs or festivals. For further information contact Dr. Art Lapierre.
Evening Community Vocal Jazz Ensemble –
You wanted this, and the school listened. The course was founded several years ago by a number of students who wanted a ‘one-night-a-week’ ensemble for those who work during the day. An adjunct faculty member directs this ensemble. For further information contact Dr. Art Lapierre.
