I liked both stories and the different versions emphasized different things. The play relied on the dialogue and the character’s expressions to create the plot and communicate what each character was feeling or thinking. Whereas with the short story, Glaspell writes what the characters are thinking or feeling. If I were to see the performance of the play, then I would probably like that version of the story better; however, I liked reading the short story over the play. The short story went into more detail about the setting and expressed the character’s, especially Mrs. Hayes, thoughts more. It also explained some things better that were confusing in the play. It was overall more graphic about the surroundings and got into the character’s heads more than the play.
