I think the title does indeed affect the emphasis of the play in some regard. The title "A Jury of Her Peers" puts emphasis and direction to a court case. It describes a case in progress which is being examined and judged by a persons own similar peers. It really fits the story well, as this is what is occurring in the kitchen as the discovery and verdict is decided on. The title "Trifles" brings a greater attention to the perception of a male ruled society toward women and their matters. Being the father of three young ladies I find it a little disturbing. I prefer the emphasis on the women’s willingness to judge their peer outside the legal system to protect her from further harm.
