In the story there were a few more details because the author has to be more descriptive in the writing compared to a visual play which will have all the description on display, or an audio play that would have the sounds made so the listeners can easily recognize them. In this case, from the story Martha was scrambling to catch up with the her husband as her eyes caught how she was leaving everything half done then her husband calls out to her, while in the audio version she was still in the process of measuring or filtering the flour for her bread when she her husband called out to her. I would say both are ok, but it takes more for the writer to push the same point across and it would be easier for the audio version to take short cuts to establish that same idea.
