I, personally, enjoyed reading the short story more. I'm sure if I were able to see the play then I would like that. However, reading a drama is just not as interesting to me as reading short stories. A story is more descriptive, whereas with a play, it is up to the director and actors to really describe what is going on. I agree that the story allows the reader to imagine the characters in their mind.
