Hi there Lourdes,

I agree with you about the family's original dreams perhaps never being realized. However, I viewed the ending of the play as the family's rejection of their acceptance of having their dreams destroyed. I believe that it was the first time they were confronted with reality as it relates to the struggles of accomplishing one's dreams, especially in a racist society, and laying a stake in the ground that they were not going to accept their lives anymore no matter how much it works. I interpreted that as them being able to actually acheive their dreams and make them reality for the first time. The money led them to dream, but their integrity led them to accomplish their dreams. Did you think that their dreams exploded because of the buildup to one point where they were shattered? Keep up the good work!
