Edna Pontellier depicts femininity in being a mother to her children, a wife to her husband but it more independent than usual women at that tim in their society. Adele Ratignolle expressed more "feminen" qualities in their society, she followed the "female status". She acted the way woman were supposed to act, and did things women were supposed to do.
Leonce Pontellier was the usual man in society, he was into the money he makes and the possessions he owned. Robert Lebrum is the typical young male, into women and how he treated them.
