The Seneca Falls Declaration of Sentiments expressed the rights that women ought to have, comparing it to the declaration of independance. Edna and the women of that era and especially living in New Orleans, was not given the rights adn oppurtunities that women of the 21st century have come to known. She broke out of the mold cast upon women in society. She would have been better off marrying later, if even at all and probably should not have had children. However, the ways of her time made that choice unnacceptable. It is good to see that our society has been making steps to greater freedom for women and that was because women like Edna chose to not conform to society's ways.
