Yes, since Edna was more independent than the traditional women during their times, Adele would probably have been considered the more feminine one. Adele was the stereotypical housewife and mother. Robert on the other hand would have been the more masculine one during those times, since Leonce was not the typical husband. He allowed Edna to do more things than the average housewife and mother.
