Requirements
Textbook: Beginning Algebra - Lial, Hornsby, and McGinnis, 10th Ed., Pearson
Online Access: MyMathLab student access code (either with your text or through http://www.mymathlab.com).
Register: Register for the MyMathLab course at http://www.coursecompass.com using course code lui79237
Outside Time: Schedule 7.5 hours outside of class to complete the online portion of the course.
Prerequisite
By the 2nd class meeting, June 24th, you must submit proof you have satisfied the prerequisite for the course. Students must have completed MATH 32 with a grade of "C" or better.
Grading
Online Homework: 20%
In-class work: 15%
Quizzes: 5%
Exams: 40%
Final Exam: 20%
Exams
There will be four (4) chapter exams. Exams must be taken in class. Calculators, books, and notes are not allowed during exams. I cannot allow makeup exams since we meet only once a week. You have the option of replacing your lowest exam score with your final score.
Homework
Homework assignments are online through the MyMathLab site. There are no makeups for homework. For each problem, you are allowed 3 attempts for the correct answer. The last day to complete homework sets is 8am the day of the corresponding chapter exam.
In-Class Work
During every class meeting, you will have worksheets to complete before the end of class. There are no makeups for worksheets. I will drop the three lowest worksheet scores.
Quizzes
Quizzes will be given during class meetings at the beginning, middle or end of class. There are no makeup quizzes. Two of the lowest quiz scores will be dropped.
Final Exam
The final exam is cumulative and will cover chapters 1-9. The final will be given on the last day of class: August 5, 2009. No makeups!
