Use of a new marker closer to the Mi gene

Long Description: A better marker gene linked closer to the Mi gene was identified from the physical map of the tomato genome.

Use of the CEN6 marker gene helped breeders to select plants that contained the

Mi gene, but did not have the Aps marker. These plants had fewer of the

undesirable genes from the wild tomato parent and produced good quality

processing tomatoes.
