All crops have been genetically modified during domestication
Prehistoric farmers selected the genetic changes that domesticated certain wild plants. Modern plant breeders have selected additional genetic improvements to produce the crop plants that we enjoy today.
Long Description: Teosinte is the wild plant that was domesticated to produce modern corn. The short slender seed spike ot teosinte is not very appetizing compared to the large seed cob of a modern corn.
Long Description: Fruits of a wild tomato are the size of peas, while the modern cultivated tomato fruit can be many inches in diameter.
