The Virtual Geography Department has a lot of information, but finding it requires digging.

The US Geological Survey has it all - land, water, biological resources, mapping.

The World Lecture Hall has a great deal of good information, including classes, online.

The Discovery Channel's Earth Alert page has information on current events that span physical and human geography - earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, volcanos...

The American Association of Geographers is an important national geographic resource.

Yahoo! has a great collection of links to geographic and environmental magazines.

The Western Regional Climate Center has lots of good climate data.

The California Department of Water Resources is a good source of water data.

The U S Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) has lots of climate change information. Check out their archive of 2d Monday Seminars.

This is the home of Planet Drum, a bioregional organization.

This Hemp information site has information about alternatives for paper, cloth, and food.

The Pure Food Campaign has information about rBGH, genetically modified organisms, and organic issures.

This site (in Sweden!) dedicated to the excellent, although controversial author Edward Abbey is worth checking out.

The Eco-Village Information Service Home Page has Earth-friendly urban ideas.

Cartography, Maps, and Imagery

TopoZone will display topographic maps of anywhere in the US!

NOAA's GOES Operational Significant Event Imagery Server has really interesting satellite images.

Nasa's Visable Earth page has amazing images of Earth.  

The SSEC also has more interesting satellite images, including full disk shots!

This is a great view of Earth from space, updated constantly, with many options. Just beautiful!

Microsoft's Terraserver will allow you to zoom in to maps and satellite images from around the world at remarkable resolution.

Yahoo's Maps will create maps and/or driving directions for you.

The US Census Bureau's TIGER files will create maps with up to 21 types of features.

The California Geographical Survey has access to premade and customizable maps from many data sets.

Trimble Navigation and Garmin are GPS companies with outstanding tutorials on their sites.
