Exams
Policy
There will be four (4) chapter exams during the summer session. Exams must be taken in class. Calculators, books, and notes are not allowed during exams. You have the option of replacing your lowest exam score with your final score.
Makeup policy: Exam makeups are allowed only if you notify me before the exam that you will need to take a makeup. Proper notification includes in-person or an email up to 4:00pm the day of the exam (an email at 8pm the day of an exam does not count). Makeup exams are given the next class period only (due to time constraints of the summer session).
Equations/etc. to Memorize for Exam 3
Note that you are still responsible for learning and knowing the different methods in each section. These are the specific equations and formulas that I expect you to know. I may add more to the given category on Monday when we do the review.
Memorize the following
Section 4.7 - Three solutions for Cauchy-Euler Equation
Section 5.1 - DE for undamped and damped motion; you may memorize the solutions that are based on lambda and omega but that is not necessary.
Section 5.2 - Equation (4) on page 199 in 9th edition = y'''' = w(x)
Section 6.1 - Power Series about x = a
Section 6.2 - Indicial Equation; three types of equations based on r_1 and r_2
The following will be given
Section 4.7 - Derivatives for Reduction to constant coefficients
Section 4.9 - the proper u and u' for substitution
Section 5.2 - boundary conditions for BVP
