Textbook: Zill - A First Course in Differential Equations (9th Ed.)

Prerequisite

By June 17, 2008 (third class meeting), you must provide proof of prerequisite from the counseling office. If proof of prerequisite is not received, you will be dropped from the class. Students must have taken MATH 401 with a grade of "C" or better.

Grading

Homework: 20%
In-class work: 10%
Quizzes: 10%
Exams: 40%
Final Exam: 20%

Exams

There will be four (4) chapter exams during the summer session. Exams must be taken in class. Calculators, books, and notes are not allowed during exams. You have the option of replacing your lowest exam score with your final score.

Makeup policy: Exam makeups are allowed only if you notify me before the exam that you will need to take a makeup. Proper notification includes in-person or an email up to 4:00pm the day of the exam (an email at 8pm the day of an exam does not count). Makeup exams are given the next class period only (due to time constraints of the summer session).

Homework

Assignments must be turned in at the beginning of class. Homework cannot be made up. Late homework may be submitted the next class period after the due date for 50% credit. The two lowest homework scores will be dropped.

In-Class Work

At the end of some class periods, a worksheet will be given to complete before the end of class. No late work is accepted. In-class work cannot be made up. The lowest two scores will be dropped.

Quizzes

Quizzes will be given during class meetings at the beginning, middle or end of class. There are no makeup quizzes. Two of the lowest quiz scores will be dropped.

Final Exam

The final exam is cumulative and will cover chapters 1-8. The final will be given on the last day of class: August 6, 2009. No makeups!
