Micropropagation

Long Description: The shoot apical meristem is excised and cultured. This produces a green leafy shoot which forms roots on the basal end. These small plantlets are further cultured to produce mature plants.

Micropropagation via tissue culture

Micropropagation is valuable for:

* multiplication of planting stock for elite crop varieties

* elimination of virus infection from vegetatively propagated crops
