Module E - How can psychology affect my health?
Woman meditating or doing yogaWelcome to the last learning module this semester!  As you near the end of your whirlwind of a semester you will finish up your journey by exploring the interaction between the mind and the body.  As you know the study of the mind and body dates back to the early philosophers and continues today in the field of health psychology.  In this lesson you will further delve into the mind-body connection as you explore consciousness, sleep, stress, and mental illness as they relate to physical and emotional health.  I hope that you enjoy this learning module - it is full of interesting and helpful information for everybody!

Lesson 1 - The effects of stress and value of sleep.

Picture of a a woman's face, with eyes closed in thoughtThis week students will learn about consciousness and sleep (Chapter 4).  In looking at the objectives for this lesson students will find that most of them are knowledge or comprehension based.  This means that you are expected to be able to recite the processes that are being asked you.  These objectives do not need any additional clarification as they are very direct.  You will notice that there are a lot of objectives for this chapter but don't be discouraged; they are more specific to what you need to know.  Historically students have reported  this to be one of the top lessons of the semester...I hope you enjoy learning more about consciousness and its variations.  Here are some related links on sleep, if you want to further explore:
